Summer Family Photography in Cornwall

If you've been meaning to book a family photoshoot, maybe this is your sign.

Do you feel that twinge, knowing that time is passing and you’re not quite making the most of it? It’s like as soon as you have kids, this feeling never seems to leave you. That’s why photos are so important to us. It’s what got me started on this journey as a photographer.

There’s no stopping time. But you can pause, with intention, and create a space to document what you’ve got properly. Not more phone snaps. Proper, meaningful images of your most treasured moments and people.

I’m Michelle, and I have been photographing the natural, beautiful, funny and tear jerker moments (that you aren’t even aware of til you see them!) since 2013 and I’m here to help you seize your moments of togetherness, love and laughter in a wonderful experience, created especially for families.

My outdoor summer sessions in Cornwall are available until end of September and start from £250. A £50 booking fee secures your date, with your image package chosen after you've seen your photos.

Family is where we begin, and belong.

Every family has its own way of loving each other. I love learning the dynamics and how each person is tuned in differently, and capturing those special connections.

That's the story I'm interested in telling, by seeing the small moments, tiny details, and at the same time sensing the bigger picture: knowing that one day this will all look different.

A friend with a camera

The best photos don't happen by accident, or by telling everyone to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera. There is a point between messy chaos and perfect posing where real moments can be captured in a beautiful way.

Finding a photographer who you can connect with and feel at ease in front of is the most important ingredient in your photos. One size does not fit all! I want to get to know you all, so that I can understand your family and what means the most to you.

Embracing summer in Cornwall

This might be the first of many summers together, or the last. Either way, children change so much every year, and so does your relationship with them.

Photos together in the summer light is a wonderful way to hold onto some gorgeous memories before they slip away.

Enjoy an early morning or evening with me, savouring the soft light, being present together.

I’m based in Grampound and can suggest lovely locations nearby. For me, the location is not the most important part of the session, the real story is always your family.

Because this is Cornwall, we'll always keep an eye on the weather. If the forecast isn't on our side, we'll rearrange for another day.

Every family is different, and you can choose the package that feels right for you after you've seen your photos (online/zoom viewing).

*Every family session is planned individually, so if anything about your booking would involve an additional cost, I'll always let you know before you confirm.

FAQ

How long are family photography sessions?

An outdoor family photography session is usually 1 hour, which is usually plenty of time.

What time of day do you shoot outdoors?

Outdoor sessions are always held within an hour or two of sunrise or sunset. Early morning is preferable in the peak summer holiday periods.

What if it rains?

If rain is forecast at our session time, we’ll reschedule to the nearest available date. Cornwall can be unpredictable so this is sometimes a last minute call.

Do you charge for travel?

The first 10 miles from me are free. I’m based in Grampound and there are many lovely locations within that radius including beach, woods and countryside spots. If your preferred location is further afield there is an additional travel charge added, which is discussed before booking.

Any extra costs like entry fees, parking etc are also added to the session price.

Is there an additional charge for extended family bookings?

Yes, I charge an additional fee for extended family sessions as these tend to be several family sessions rolled into one. This will be discussed before you book.

A true story

There are so many tales of photoshoots that almost didn’t happen. I think it’s common to not feel a sense of urgency as life melts from one stage to the next without fanfare. We all know what it’s like to look back and realise things have changed, and the moments we didn’t realise were special have gone.

Without fail, those who almost didn’t book the session say they’re so glad they did it afterwards. It makes me realise how many probably don’t, and regret it.

When you look back on this summer in ten years' time, what do you hope you'll remember?
