My approach to newborn, family & women’s portraits is that you don't need a perfectly settled baby, children who sit still and ‘behave’, or any idea of what you're doing at all. I don't need you to perform or expect you to be a certain way. You just need to show up as YOU - however you are. Being is enough.

This is an experience first, and a photoshoot second. My job is to create a space where things can unfold naturally, and then to be ready to capture them when they do. Your job is to stay in the moment, soaking up what you’ve got.

Ordinary moments are always the most beautiful.

There's a chapter that doesn't get talked about much: the one where your children don't need you in the same way anymore, and you find yourself standing in the space that's left, wondering who you are now.

For many women, this arrives in their forties. Something in you starts to shift. It can feel disorienting. It is also the beginning of a (sometimes messy) awakening.

This is a full photography experience, and you’ll be guided each step of the way from our first conversation to choosing and ordering your finished pieces.

Most clients invest between £600 and £900, choosing artwork and prints that live in their home rather than on a hard drive. The images are made with that in mind from the beginning.

Session fees and starting prices are on the pricing page - and if you'd like to talk through what's right for you before committing to anything, I'm always happy to do that first. This is an investment - into something that will grow in value over the years. I believe it should be done properly.

A little about me

I'm Michelle, the person behind Curious Creatures Photography.

It started when I had my own baby and fell completely in love with him, and with how extraordinary life felt with him in it. I wanted photos that would capture that feeling. Not studio setups with props, but something real and warm, rooted in a deeper presence. That kind of photography barely existed then, so I started learning it myself.

Twelve years later, that's still what I'm doing.

I'm down to earth and easy to be around, I know when to chat and when to step back. My approach is simple: I'm not here to make moments happen, but to create a space for them to unfold naturally and notice the beauty that’s already there.

Based in Grampound, I photograph newborns, families, and women at every chapter, from the very first moments all the way through, in a meaningful and lasting way.
