Women's Portrait Photography in Cornwall

For the woman who's ready to do something just for herself.

Maybe it's been a while since you felt truly seen. Maybe you've been keeping safe behind the scenes, so busy doing everything for everyone else that along the way, you lost touch with yourself.

These sessions are for that. A space that's entirely yours - to be photographed honestly, with care, and in whatever way feels most like you. Some women come wanting a portrait that captures who they are right now. Others want something more intimate, more playful, more sensual. All of it is welcome here.

A photography session can celebrate who you are, or help you through the sometimes messy awakening of middle age.

You don't need to have it all figured out, we'll work it out together.

“Michelle captured my personality perfectly, all the aspects! In addition, she gave me the greatest gift, seeing images of myself I actually LOVE!

A truly enjoyable and confidence boosting experience in every way. Thank you.

For the woman who is waking up

Something is shifting. Maybe it's been building for a while: a growing restlessness, a sense that the life you've been living doesn't quite fit anymore. The blinkers are coming off, old certainties are loosening and you're asking questions you've been too busy, too tired, or too stuck to ask before.

This is perimenopause territory. It's also just life - the particular unravelling that arrives for many women in their forties, when the children are older, the roles are loosening their grip, and something underneath all of it starts to stir.

Who are you now? Not as someone's mother, partner, or good girl, but as yourself, for yourself?

A photoshoot at this moment isn't vanity, it's claiming. Saying “I’m still here, I still matter”. And the chance to share it with someone who isn't going to look away.

These sessions are for the woman in the middle of returning. However that looks for you.

For the woman who wants to go further

Some women arrive knowing exactly what they want. Others arrive absolutely terrified, and leave feeling like an entirely different version of themselves.

These are the sessions I love most.

Boudoir with me isn't about posing perfectly in expensive lingerie. It starts with a cup of tea, a lot of chat, and usually quite a lot of laughter. The nerves are always there at the beginning, and they always dissolve. What replaces them is something so special that I get to witness, and it never gets old.

I'll guide you through every moment of the process. There's no pressure to do anything you don’t want to, and no expectation of what the session should look like. We follow the energy, go at your pace, and see where it takes us.

Sometimes that ends with a powerful portrait that says this is me, right now. Sometimes it ends with bare skin and wind in your hair and a feeling of hell yes. Usually it's somewhere in between and either way it’s liberating.

You don't have to be an exhibitionist to love this experience, just a little bit curious.

What to expect

Every session is different because every woman is different. There's no fixed script, no standard set of poses, no predetermined outcome. What there is, is a conversation first, a plan that feels right for you, and a session that follows your lead.

Before your session

We'll meet for a consultation - in person or video call - to talk through what you're looking for, what feels exciting, what feels scary, what you'd like to wear, and where you'd like to be. This is where we start to work out what your session looks like. Nothing is decided until you're ready.

Location

Sessions can take place in my natural light studio in Grampound, at an outdoor location across Cornwall, or at your home. The location shapes the mood significantly - the studio feels intimate and controlled, outdoors feels expansive and free, at home feels personal and real. We'll choose together based on what you want to feel.

On the day

We start slowly. Tea, chat, no rushing. I'll guide you through everything - how to stand, where to look, how to move - you never have to wonder what to do. The session finds its own rhythm as we go, and most women find that by the middle of it, something has shifted.

Afterwards

Your images are carefully edited and presented at your viewing and ordering appointment, around two to three weeks later. This is where you'll see your photos for the first time and choose what you'd like to take home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not comfortable in front of a camera?

Almost every woman who books feels exactly the same way. It's one of the most common things I hear, and it has never once stopped a session from being wonderful. I'll guide you through everything, from how to stand to where to look, and we go at whatever pace feels right. The nerves are always there at the start, but they never stay.

Do I have to do boudoir or show skin?

Not at all. Boudoir is one option within these sessions, not a requirement. Some women come wanting a beautiful, confident portrait - fully clothed, natural, honest. Others want to explore something more intimate. You can land somewhere in between. You decide, and you can change your mind at any point during the session.

What should I wear?

Whatever makes you feel most like yourself - or most like the version of yourself you want to explore. Bring a few options and we'll talk through what works. We usually have 2-4 outfit changes during the session for different looks and aspects of your personality. I have a small client wardrobe of simple pieces available to borrow in the studio, and you'll receive styling guidance before your session. There are no rules, and nothing is expected.

Where can the session take place?

In my natural light studio in Grampound, at an outdoor location across Cornwall, or at your home. Each location creates a completely different mood. The studio feels intimate and controlled, outdoors feels expansive and free, at home feels personal and real. We'll choose together based on what you want to feel. A small travel charge applies for locations further afield.

How long does a session last?

Most sessions last around 60 - 90 minutes, though there's no strict timetable. We go at your pace and give the session the time it needs.

When is the best time to book?

Whenever feels right - there's no wrong time. Availability can be limited especially for outdoor or evening sessions, so it's worth getting in touch sooner rather than later. If you're considering it, that feeling is worth paying attention to.

Will my photos be kept private?

Completely. Your images are yours and yours alone. I will never share, publish, or use your photos without your explicit permission - and for these sessions in particular, that permission will never be assumed. Your privacy is always respected.

How much does a women's portrait session cost in Cornwall?

Sessions start from £295, which includes your consultation, the session itself, and your viewing and ordering appointment. Images and artwork are chosen afterwards - full pricing details are shared once you get in touch. If you don't love your photos, you don't have to buy anything.

What if I don't like how I look in photos?

That's exactly why we start with a consultation - so I understand what works for you, what you're hoping to feel, and what your concerns are. I'll guide you through poses, angles and lighting that are genuinely flattering rather than generically so. Most women are pleasantly surprised by how much they love their images.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, if having someone you trust there would help you relax, bring them. Some women find it makes the experience more fun and less daunting, especially for the first part of the session. We can talk through what works best during your consultation.

“The only person whose acceptance you need is your own.”
