Surprise sunset proposal on a Cornish clifftop

It doesn’t get any more romantic than this, really!

The mission was simple: to capture Matt and his fiancé on their favourite bit of Cornish coast moments after his marriage proposal, with the sun setting before them over the Atlantic, at New Polzeath in Cornwall.

This was their favourite place to visit. They were coming down for the weekend. We had one evening, no plan B.

Fortunately, this was back in June and of course Cornwall is known for its reliable weather so we had no issues - it was the perfect evening!

And I only got a little bit lost, and the panic didn’t last too long when I couldn’t find the happy couple or reach Matt on his phone as our appointed time came and went.

Fortunately I wasn’t supposed to capture the actual proposal - I think Matt wanted to have that moment stay private, and he wanted to surprise Emily with me after she’d said yes.

As soon as his beaming face appeared down the road to come and find me, I knew all was well and he took me to meet an ecstatic and very surprised Emily. She was very sweet and we had a truly lovely session, capturing happy couple and celebrating.
