When should you book your newborn photoshoot?

Expecting a baby and thinking about booking a newborn photoshoot in Cornwall?

Let me explain when to book and why timing matters when it comes to newborn photography.

20 week scan

After your 20 week scan is the recommended time to start contacting your newborn photographer and getting your photoshoot booked in. It might seem really early, but this secures a slot for when your baby arrives.

Why book a newborn photoshoot in advance?

It’s important to get your newborn photoshoot booking secured well before your baby arrives.

Some photographers book up months in advance, and you may miss your chance to work with the one you want.

As the window for newborn photography is quite small, once baby is born does not leave a lot of time to go through the process of gathering information, waiting for replies to come through, confirming the booking, going through prep info and then planning details and outfits. When you’ve got a newborn baby to attend to, this can be too much for your plate.

How do you schedule a newborn photoshoot if you don’t know when they’ll arrive?

Not knowing exactly when baby will arrive is the reason most people hesitate to book their newborn photoshoot until after baby is born.

How my newborn photography in Cornwall works is your newborn session is scheduled in for around 10 days from your due date. Then there is plenty of time to think about what to wear, and you can relax knowing it’s in the diary.

When your baby arrives, just let me know, and we can decide whether we need to move your session. As long as your baby is between 5 - 14 days old at the time of the session, rescheduling may not be needed.

What if my baby is born early or late?

Having your newborn photoshoot booked in advance means I will keep my calendar flexible for you. If your baby arrives early or late we will move it if needed.

Because I need to keep this flexibility in my schedule for those who have booked in advance, I can’t guarantee last minute availability.
