Baby Alfie is besties with Lowan, who I have photographed a number of times. I met Alfie when he came for a Christmas mini session last year at about 5 months old, so I was thrilled to be asked to take his photos again for his first birthday. His mum wanted to do something outdoors, being summer and all, and I found the perfect location not far from me on the Roseland Peninsula. We met on a beautiful sunshiny morning and I'd arrived early to rake away all the old grass cuttings under a very knobbly tree which was the perfect spot for some prop shots. They arrived and I suggested we walk over to the grassy field to start off before the sun got too high, and then we could return to the shady tree which was near the cars (in the corner next to the car park in fact) and take the rest there afterwards. We had a lovely time in the field and then headed back. To our dismay a car had been parked right under the tree (not that it was really in the parking lot) and our spot was no longer available. By then the sun was too high and I needed shade, and there was nowhere else with cover. We had not choice but to drive down to the beach and continue the session there, so we headed to Pendower and took the prop photos of Alfie by the hedges in the car park there. He wasn't in the best of moods but I love what we got! It's going to be Lowan's birthday shoot in a couple of weeks and I love how similar they are!
