It's not often I meet a fellow South African down here in Cornwall, so when I met Lucy and we recognised each others' accent it was an instant click. Never mind that they were feeling very shy when we met on the beach for a maternity session, they went along with it and I really enjoyed spending time with them. I think I have a fascination with couples in that pre-baby stage, seeing them so close and full of laughter. So relaxed!! It makes me remember how simple things are then, and how much changes with a baby. It's a different kind of closeness, and there's still laughter but there's so much more inbetween. It's kind of an amazing transformation from couple to family.
And I LOVE meeting these couples in the first couple of weeks after their baby is born and seeing them as new parents, coping so brilliantly with the challenges they've already had and being in the presence of all that awesome newborn love. Oh, and getting my baby cuddles - those are the best! Sebastian is so cute and these two certainly made it look easy. It was an extra special treat having Lucy's mum there who was visiting from SA, and being able to include her in the family photos. Such a privilege for me!
