Amelia's Newborn Shoot

December 05, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

This shoot was a gift from an aunt.  Being the first grandchild on both sides, the baby had already been given everything, and she wanted to treat them to something really special.  Someone had told her that the one thing they wish they'd had was newborn photos, and so she looked around and found me :)  I wish more people would think of a photo session as something to give - it is a tough time financially for most, and a luxury like a newborn shoot is not on the radar.  I would advise anyone wanting to have newborn photos done to ask their family members to chip in - if yours are anything like mine, they all want photos of their precious grandchild/neice/nephew etc, and are happy to contribute!  Also a fantastic idea for a baby shower - everyone puts in a bit and the mum-to-be can be presented with a gift voucher.  And if there's time, she can also have her bump photos done (included free of charge with all newborn shoot bookings).

Anyway, back to Amelia!  We held the session at their home in Falmouth.  Just shy of 2 weeks old, Amelia was beautiful with the dreamiest creamy soft skin.  Her father was hungover and in the dogbox for having been out having one too many the previous night.  Becky was exhausted from a long night trying to settle Amelia (we've all been there, right?!).  So they were both tired, and it was a big relief that Amelia managed to stay settled and asleep for most of our session.  She was a star, really.  I set up in the main bedroom, using the bed, and the wallpaper made the perfect backdrop for the family shots.  We did a quick basket set up downstairs in the lounge and including the time it took me to set up my lights and equipment and pack away again, I was finished within 2 hours, leaving them all to have a good rest!

Here are some from the day...
